Today I had the pleasure of seeing the musical Wicked performed at the Music Hall at Fair Park in Dallas. It is a fabulous tale of friendship, sacrifice and love. It made me laugh, it made me cry and it filled my heart with appreciation as it reminded me of how blessed I am to have some special girls in my life..."Because I knew you, I have been changed for good."
For Good - From Wicked
I've heard it said
That people come into our lives for a reason
Bringing something we must learn
And we are led
To those who help us most to grow
If we let them
And we help them in return
Well, I don't know if I believe that's true
But I know I'm who I am today
Because I knew you...
Like a comet pulled from orbit
As it passes a sun
Like a stream that meets a boulder
Halfway through the wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
I have been changed for good.
Well, it may never be
That we'll meet again
In this lifetime
So let me say before we part
So much of me
Is made of what I learned from you
You'll be with me
Like a hand print on my heart
And now whatever way our stories end
I know you have rewritten mine
By being my friend...
Like a ship blown from its mooring
By a wind off the sea
Like a seed dropped by a skybird
In a distant wood
Who can say if I've been changed for the better?
But because I knew you
Because I knew you
I have been changed for good.

OK, Kim, that made me cry. I'm so glad we are friends.
That is so amazing!
I would love to see a real, honest-to-goodness, professional musical production. I've only ever been to the amateur ones done at our local high school (and I've lived relatively close to the Fox Theater in Atlanta all my life! Sad, huh?) The ones at the school are incredible, don't get me wrong. It's just that I would truly like to see the real thing. I bet it was really awesome!
Thanks for sharing your day with us! I hope the rest of your week is great.
Blessings,
Teresa <><
Great Lyrics! I HAVE to go see this show!
OMG - Isn't it the BEST performance!!! I didn't think anything would top Cats and Phantom of the Opera - but Wicked blows them away! It's my favorite now!
Ummm, I did just blog about another performance I went to - totally different experience. errrr..
